  Chapter Two

  The next three days came as a blur to Piper, as she was stocking and labeling all the products Sam had in the store. She smiled when she saw that Sam had made one of her favorite scents, which smelled like fluffy towels. She loved the smell of clean laundry since she was a little girl, so Sam had made it for her. She had met Riley earlier in the week and found what Sam said about her to be true. She was as sweet as they came, and Piper was now excited to find out what this new life had in store for her. She had not told anyone she was an author, and had also begged Sam not to say anything as well. Her secret hobby would remain as such for a while.

  That night Piper and Sam had gone to Kelly’s diner to have dinner. She was surprised at how many people in the town had ménage marriages. She had never seen this in real life, but oddly enough she had written about them. She personally could not be with two men as she could not even make one man happy, plus all the damn laundry. After leaving Kelly’s, a stop to meet Tom at the liquor store was needed for making margaritas back home to celebrate Piper’s moving to Lucky.

  Once home, Piper and Sam got to making their treats, with more tequila than was needed, along with the ever-popular chips and salsa to go with it. Drinks in hands, they both sat outside to enjoy the evening.

  “So, check this out. I found out the owner of the Hidden Gem, where we put in a request for membership. Well, it turns out his name is Ryan Newberry, he is a friend of Milo’s, and well, he’s going to make a call to get our background checks run quicker, and at a discounted rate, too. Now I did have to tell him who you really are. Sorry, by the way. He’s a big fan, but he was concerned about his club, and said if you don’t use names in your book, he could give you a private tour. Isn’t that great! I’m so excited. I have never been to one, but from all the books I have read, and, well, the last one you wrote, I have been more and more curious how that half live.” Sam bounced in her seat like a child, but not enough to spill her drink, as she talked. “Maybe we can even get some action. I haven’t been with anyone since, well, you know. And let’s face it, I haven’t had time to play with anyone, and I know that you need some, too. So this is playtime time for you as well.”

  Piper agreed and finished her drink. They both talked openly about ideas to help spice up her books and looked forward to the day they could actually see inside the club. Piper blushed as she started going into detail about the book. She always got a little squeamish when talking about sex. However, she could write anything and everything she wanted or desired in a book. No one needed to know what actually transpired in her daily life. To the world of books, she was Viola Mathews, author and sex expert. For now, her secrets in all things, even those Sam didn’t know, were safe, hidden, and no sooner to be released.

  After the second drink was finished, Piper felt her feet no more and giggled at the thought. She determined her drunken self needed to go to bed before Sam’s impromptu shopping trip tomorrow. She needed to also make sure that Sam did not get to talking about her ex. Piper was not happy at what she found, but hey, Piper was just plain unlucky in all things, especially love. Tucking herself into the bed, Piper let herself drift off to sleep.

  Milo finally pulled into his sister’s drive and parked around back so as not to wake her up. It was about two in the morning, and if he knew his sister, she would be tipsy and sound asleep either on the couch or her bed. Since she had a guest room, he would make sure that was the first place he went. Walking up the front door, he reached under the old rocker that held the spare key. It had a small groove underneath that worked as the perfect hiding spot. Key in hand, he opened the door and walked down the hall to the spare room. He was used to seeing in the dark, so he did not need to turn on the light.

  Milo dropped his small bag on the floor and walked into the bathroom to take a shower. Feeling the rest of the grime wash off of him, Milo turned off the light to the bathroom and went to bed. The bed smelled good. He guessed that maybe Sam had done the sheets recently, as it smelled liked clean laundry. Snuggling down into the pillow, he was asleep within minutes.

  * * * *

  Piper woke up feeling really warm, hot even, as the smell of soap enveloped her senses. She remembered drinking last night, but not getting in the shower. Her head felt fuzzy, and she was slightly confused. She went to stretch and noticed something holding her down. Suddenly alarmed, Piper looked over to her left and noticed a man in her bed. His head was buried under her mess of hair and pillows, with his arm draped over her middle. Piper felt panic rise up and screamed.

  Milo felt like he just had the most restful sleep he’d had in years. It must be all that mountain air. Then a piercing scream rang out, causing Milo to jump and look for danger, and then saw he was in bed with a woman. Before he could gather his senses, a pillow went flying at him, followed by something heavy, a book, he thought. And then the bedroom door flew open, Sam standing in the doorway with her damn rifle aimed at him.

  “What the fuck!” Sam sputtered as Piper tried to fight off her attacker. “Jesus Christ, Milo, what the fuck are you doing here?” Sam had lowered the gun.

  Piper couldn’t see well and reached for her glasses sitting on the table next to the bed, only realizing now that she was just in her panties and a small cami top, and reached for the sheet as a blush came across her face. It was Milo. Damn, had Piper had many a fantasy about this very man, but now that she looked at him, he had hardness around his eyes now. The Milo she remembered had such life in him, but now he just looked tired.

  “What the fuck, Red, is that you? Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were here. I was too damn tired when I got here. I just didn’t check. I’m sorry.” He looked right at Piper when he stated this. “And, Sam, for fuck’s sake, put the damn gun away. You’re going to shoot your damn eyes out, or even worse, someone else.” She noticed as Milo got out of bed, and he must have realized he collapsed in bed not caring what he wore, but now he was sharing his birthday suit with everyone. Piper watched as Milo reached for the blanket off the end of the bed and headed into the bathroom to get dressed.

  Piper stood frozen in the spot until Sam shook her. She was lost in her own world thinking about everything that just happened. Milo came out of the bathroom looking good enough to eat. He was wearing his worn-out blue jeans that hung to his hips and a tight blue T-shirt that showed off the definition of his shoulders and chest. He was so yummy, more than Piper had remembered. He now was sporting a high and tight haircut to suit his blue eyes and brown hair. His strong jaw was covered in stubble. He was so damn hot she wanted to run her tongue over his scruffiness. She felt her pussy clenched with need as he smiled at his sister and enveloped her in a big bear hug. Sam laughed as he spun her around. She could see the love between the two of them and felt like an outsider once again.

  Piper slowly walked past them as their conversation went on, and she crept into the bathroom with her clothes. Once secured in the bathroom, Piper took long, deep breaths and started the shower. The water was very cathartic as it washed away the grime of drinks from last night, but sadness hit her as well. The smell of Milo lingered on her skin and now was running down the drain. Oh, Milo, boy, the many times she had dreamed to be in his bed, but never once did she even image it going the way it had this morning. After washing her hair, Piper soaped up her hands and started washing her skin, but when she got to her breasts, Piper stopped to pinch and pull on her nipples. Her imagination ran away as a different scenario played out in her head, and her fingers moved down to her clit.

  The warmth of his arm woke her with a start. His hand slowly moved around to circle her nipple before moving down her stomach to her aching sex. His clever fingers kept moving as now his mouth was on her nipples, suckling them one at a time until his hand reached her throbbing clit, circling the hidden jewel that lay covered between her pussy lips. Piper imagined him slowly taking his finger and entering her, pumping his finger in and out of her weeping cunt. Milo released her nipple wi
th a pop and kissed down her body. Never taking his eyes off of her, they burned into hers with desire. Once he reached the apex of her thigh, he took one hand and spread her lips before running his tongue over her clit. Piper jumped at the contact. He held her down, and he pulled her closer to his mouth. He ate at her like a staving man, using his tongue to gather up all the juices. As he alternated between his tongue and finger on her cunt, Piper felt the need to come start to build. Milo took the signs and added another finger and pumped in and out of her in earnest. Almost ready to jump over, Milo took her clit into his mouth and bit the nerve. Piper screamed as her release sent her into the next world and back again.

  Piper didn’t know how long she had been in the shower, but the water now was running cold, and her breathing was ragged. She had not come like that in a while. Granted, all the times she did come it was caused by her own hand. Feeling the edge taken off, Piper got dressed and opened the bathroom door only to discover she was once again all alone.

  * * * *

  Milo was still lost at having woken up in bed with Piper. Sam had filled in the gaps as to her staying with her now. He was happy that Sam had someone to help her with the store. “So, Milo, why are you really here? You were due to get out, but I thought you were going to stay in. What the hell happened over there?” Sam was pouring the cup of coffee for him while getting the sugar from the cupboard. He could not stand sugar in his coffee. It just messed up with the taste of it. However, Sam had a giant sweet tooth.

  “Well, okay, so my unit and I were securing a house that was supposed to have housed some terrorists. We had split into teams. I took the outside with three Marines while the others went inside. Everything was going fine until the last person called out, and it was a damn trap, and the fuckin’ house was wired. Everyone inside died. My team got hurt. I took some shrapnel in the arm and leg. The fuckers used nails and other metal in their bombs for maximum damage. I just couldn’t see going back in with a whole new team” Milo stated as he took a drink of coffee. He watched as the look of horror flitted across Sam’s face, right before it turned into anger. Don’t look at me like that, Sam. No one knew. I knew after I got hit I was done, but I don’t need a damn handout from anyone trying to feel sorry for me. I am fine now, and going to start working as sheriff. Things are bound to get better.” Just as he finished his story and knew Sam would be okay with everything, he saw Piper walk into the hall.

  She sure had changed since the last time her had seen her. She had always looked like a kid sister to him. She’d had big glasses that covered most of her face, her hair short and wild, and she was slightly on the small side. Right now though, she had her hair pulled up in a way that framed her tiny face. She still wore her glasses, but even those seemed to fit her better as well. She was now taller and a lot fuller than he remembered. She was almost flat chested when he last saw her, but now she was all woman and filled out her perfectly fitted top right. Her breasts were on the large size for her now smaller frame, but he had big hands and loved it when a woman fit into them. Damn, she had grown up. He felt the slight twinge as his cock started to stand up and take notice as well. Fuck, this can’t be happening. It’s Piper, for Christ’s sake.

  “Morning,” Piper stated. He took notice of her as she walked into the kitchen while he and Sam talked about what his plans were now that he was in town for good. She went over to the stove and started a kettle of water. Milo watched as she reached up into the cabinet above the stove to grab a box of tea bags. Tea, who the hell drinks tea? As she reached, her shirt lifted slightly from the back of her pants, and the sight of her tight, plump ass came into view, and her lush, cream-colored skin peeked right above her jeans. She had a great ass. He had always been a breast man, but he could admire a perfect ass if it was right in front of him. She continued with her morning activities.

  Sam kept talking about Cooper and Cash’s wedding to Riley. It was set for tomorrow, and she needed to finish getting last-minute things. “So I am taking Piper with me to town. Do you want to come with us? Piper needs a new dress, and I have to pick up my wedding gift.”

  Milo told her no and that he would catch up with them later. Sam agreed and left him and Piper sitting at the table. Piper was dunking her tea bag in the cup before taking a sip.

  Piper could feel the tension in the air. She tried to play it off and went about her business as Sam left the room, leaving her and Milo sitting at the table in complete silence.

  “I’m sorry about this morning. I’m going to look for a place this afternoon and stay in the hotel so you can have your room,” said Piper as she lowered her eyes. She knew she needed to get out on her own and put her own two feet down and stop relying on Sam for help. Sam had always been there to pick up the pieces when her life went to shit. She went to speak again when Milo cut her off.

  “No, Red, you don’t have to. I have already spoken with Cooper and taken the position of sheriff for a while. I have a house I am buying. It should be done anytime now. Until then I can stay with Wes and Grady. So don’t worry about it. I didn’t call Sam and let her know I was coming, so it was my fault this morning. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.” He smiled at her, and Piper could hear the sadness in his voice. She smiled at him and reached for his hand. He called her Red. It had been a nickname he gave her when he first met her because of her red hair, and it had stuck since.

  “Okay, if you’re sure. I’m really glad you’re back okay. Sam was really worried about you. She may act bitchy at times, but it’s just because she is covering how scared she was when you were over there. She will calm down some now that you are staying here. I am apparently going dress shopping with Sam, even though I hate shopping, for the wedding tomorrow.” She let go of his hand, stood, and walked out of the room to get her shoes on.

  Once she was in the closure of the room, she released her breath that she was not aware she was holding. Why the hell did Milo have to be so fucking hot? She was on edge as it was, and now he was going to be staying in Lucky as well. It looked like her little family was growing by one. She put on her tennis shoes, grabbed her purse, and waited outside for Sam to go shopping. Once she was seated in the car, they took off.

  * * * **

  Milo decided to make a couple calls to reach out to old contacts. He met up with Cooper and Cash at their ranch and understood right away how they felt about their woman. She was breathtaking. She had a small baby bump, but it did not take away from her pixie-like characteristics. She greeted him warmly then retreated to make them all lunch.

  “So, man, here is the place I told you about,” Cash said as he laid out the information on the table. The house was perfect. Enough rooms and space for him, without feeling locked up in a small apartment. Once that was completed, they all sat around the table while Riley served them lunch.

  “So, have you been in contact with anyone? I heard you spoke with Wes and Grady, but did they tell you Ryan is close by as well? He owns a club now with Sara,” Cooper said. Ryan had been their friend when Milo came to visit. Both he and Ryan served in the military, but Ryan got out once he found his wife, Sara. Milo used to joke about Ryan’s hidden secret of being a Dom. Milo knew that Cash and Cooper played around a bit, but not like Ryan, who lived the lifestyle. Milo laughed at the idea of him opening a club and took the number, promising to give him a call, and left the Jackson residence.

  After lunch, Milo made sure to sign the paperwork for the house. Now came time for him to get all the furniture. Cash and Cooper did help him with various locations that could help with him needs. Another trip was in order to complete his small house. He would be able to move in once a bed was in place.

  Chapter Three

  The shopping trip was interesting, but Piper indeed found a dress. She was hesitant at first, as it was a simple plum dress, but it was made of silk and clung to her shapely body. Piper was normally a girl in jeans and T-shirt, but this was a semiformal event, which required her to actually dress up. The Jackson wedding was the bi
ggest event going on in Lucky. It was being held at the Jacksons’ ranch, but it was set up with tents and being catered. Sam was already out at the ranch as she was the maid of honor, and they were required to change over there. Piper stated she would meet her there. She didn’t really feel like going because she was still new to the town. Granted Riley was extremely sweet and kind, but Piper just didn’t let anyone get close. It was something she hadn’t figured out. She didn’t know anyone at the wedding, besides Sam that was, and well, it was just like she was a wedding crasher.

  Piper got into her car and made her way to the ranch. On the drive over, she was thinking about Milo. She felt guilty for kicking him out of the room she was staying in, but Sam said he would be okay. He was due to get a house he just bought within the week. Currently he was staying with his friends Wes and Grady. She had not met them yet, but she’d heard good things about them. Glancing out the window, Piper loved to look at the mountains. Being outside always gave her interesting ideas for her books. She would love to be able to sit and write one day and not worry about a thing. However, with staying with Sam, she wanted to offer her some sort of help, hence the working at Sensual Scents, Sam’s store. Piper loved her store, but had to agree that a spa would be perfect next to the store. Maybe that was something Piper could help her with.

  A few minutes later, Piper pulled into the ranch, following the line of trucks, and got out. She was amazed at how many people were here. She had barely met anyone within the town, and for the first time she was excited to see what Lucky had to offer.

  The area where the couple would get married was lined with soft colors. White and baby-pink flowers made up the color scheme. Simple mason jars with candles inside lit the tree the couple would say their vows under. The sweet melody of music filled the air, and it felt like something out of a fairy tale. It made Piper’s heart race, as she could use this in her book. However, the one the publisher was looking for was more hardcore. Maybe she could find a way to use this romantic feel to spin the book. Piper was in love with romance, and watching Riley with Cooper and Cash made her heart melt. The love within them flowed out, and people couldn’t help but smile at the couple. Piper took a seat near the back as people started to pile into the white chairs on either side of the aisle. The grooms took their places, smiling at the people as the music changed.
